Cheryl Paley, Project Director, Blackbird at WPA

Cheryl Paley, MA, currently Project Director of Blackbird at WPA, has been directing and creating Theatre for Social Change for the past 26 years.  Artistic Director positions include: The NiteStar Program of St. Luke’s Roosevelt, S.T.A.R. Theatre of The Director’s Company and Dream Catchers, for Community Services for Children and Families/St. Luke’s. 

For NiteStar Ms. Paley created special presentations at the United Nations, St. John the Divine and SAYSO, as well as a repertory of shows for at-risk audiences.  She also created arts intervention programs for Spencer Cox Institute for HIV positive women and the formerly incarcerated and directed 3 productions of Vagina Monologues with HIV positive women and their physicians. 

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and a master’s degree in Theatre for Social Change from Gallatin School of Individualized Study of New York University.  Cheryl lives in Washington Heights with her daughter Zoe.
