Madeline Hopper

Executive and Policy Specialist

Staff

Madeline Hopper serves as the Executive and Policy Specialist at the Women’s Prison Association, where she supports strategic operations and leads policy initiatives aimed at making incarceration for women obsolete in New York City. In this dual role, she collaborates with WPA’s CEO and Executive Team to implement the organization’s Strategic Plan while building the relationships and infrastructure needed to advance a policy and advocacy agenda grounded in WPA’s holistic model of community-based care, racial justice, and gender equity.

Before joining WPA, Madeline gained experience at several community-based organizations serving women and girls, including the Hyde Park Refugee Project, the Chicago Women’s Health Center, and the DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence. She also interned on the Evidence and Evaluation team at Arnold Ventures prior to attending graduate school.

Madeline’s work is shaped by the empathy and curiosity she developed as an undergraduate studying sociology and human rights at the University of Chicago, where she graduated summa cum laude, was a Phi Beta Kappa inductee, and won a collegiate rugby National Championship. She went on to earn a Master’s in Social Science from the University of Chicago.
