Lana Mousa is the Chief of Staff at the Women’s Prison Association (WPA), and has previously worked as a case manager for WPA’s Hidden Victim’s Project (HVP).

As an undergraduate student at Arizona State University, Lana was introduced to the criminal justice reform space through an internship called The Pen Project, a distance-learning course that connected incarcerated writers with student interns to receive anonymous feedback through mail. She also co-designed and co-taught courses at the Arizona State Prison Complex in Florence. The Pen Project experience prepared her to later lead weekly writing and music classes for students at the Arizona Department of Corrections Perryville Prison. She witnessed firsthand the cruel treatment that the women often experienced, and this inspired her to dedicate her future to advocating for their freedoms and rights.

Lana holds a Bachelor of the Arts in English Literature and a Minor in Justice Studies from ASU, and is currently studying for the LSAT. She also taught at the University of La Laguna in Tenerife, Spain as one of the university’s first Fulbright Scholars.
