The Women's Prison Association

Founded in 1845, the Women’s Prison Association (WPA) is the nation’s first nonprofit organization committed to helping incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women. A leader in the criminal justice reform movement, WPA is working towards a future where systems-involved women avoid incarceration whenever possible. We provide social services and wraparound case management for systems-impacted women and LGBTQIA+ people in New York City, New York State, and the surrounding area. By supporting clients with alternatives to incarceration, scaling reentry services, and uplifting families and communities, we deliver measurable outcomes with enduring impact.
