Our prison-based services focus on preventative health. We connect women to counseling and resources they need to make informed decisions regarding their health during and after incarceration.
Preventative Health Services
As a contracted PrEP provider for women incarcerated at the Bedford Hills and Taconic correctional facilities, we ensure our clients who are interested in taking PrEP have the opportunity during and after incarceration. We provide counseling and run peer support groups to reduce transmission risk and ensure a caring and consistent support system. Our programming empowers women to take charge of their health and wellness.
Counseling and Release Planning
WPA staff meet with women to develop step-by-step plans to achieve individualized health goals during and after incarceration. We prepare them for continued support after release, including involvement in WPA’s community-based programs and access to preventive health care.
Program Eligibility
We support women and gender-expansive individuals (18+) serving time in Bedford Hills and Taconic Correctional Facilities.
